Life in Focus

Where following Jesus and Every Day Life Intersect

About

“Without a focal point to guide you, you can easily lose your way.”  Jesus Calling by Sarah Young

“Life in Focus” was created to add further depth and dimension to the Focused Living women’s Bible study at Community Presbyterian Church in Danville, California. The posts are primarily written to complement the specific Bible studies the group is doing, but are also designed to be accessible to anyone seeking to apply God’s word to daily life.  Please join the conversation and follow the blog, whether or not you attend a church or Focused Living!   As we share our stories, we will encourage and inspire one another, striving to put God’s truth into practice.  We’ll grapple with hard questions and challenging dilemmas.  We won’t have easy answers, but we will press on together, praying God reveals Himself to us in the process.

God’s word has much to say about where our focus should be:

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”  Isaiah 26:3

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  Hebrews 12:2

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”  2 Corinthians 4:18

“Life in Focus” is written by Focused Living member Marybeth McCullum.  Prior to becoming the group’s “official” blogger and photographer, she served as a small group facilitator there for 4 years.  Marybeth loves studying the Bible, encouraging others and writing honestly and authentically about her faith journey.  She also enjoys opportunities to speak and teach about God’s word.  You can find her page on Facebook at:  Marybeth Mc Cullum- Author.

  1. Amazing Marybeth! I loved both of your “James” blogs. How do I sign up for a spiritual gifts class? :)))

    • Debbie- Thanks for your kind words! Anyone from Focused Living who is interested in doing the spiritual gifts class talk to Karen Pearce or anyone on the Organizational Team on Thursdays at the registration table in the back of the sanctuary. They will pull together all the people who are interested and organize a class for them. I’m so glad you are interested in doing it. I hope others will join you! You will not be disappointed.

  2. Mary Beth & Cindy,
Thank you, for all your inspiring words and thoughts! I was going through an early summer spiritual dry spell and clicked on the link Cindy sent this morning. I’ve had almost an hour of devouring your blogs and God’s Word at just the time I needed it most! It has changed the direction of my summer. Gratefully, Anita Soule
